My good deed for the day! :)

Kyle and I decided tonight that we didn't want to sit around the house. So despite the fact that it was already 8:00, we decided to drive down to Winchester Park, about a mile away from our house. Kyle's parents called to see if they could come visit for a bit, so they followed us to the park. Gradnpa was holding Spencer and Grandma Bunny was walking around with Kyah, looking at the ducks, so I just kind of followed behind Kyah. There was a man standing next to the pond with his little daughter and I overheard him tell another little girl there that her family would never find her if she stayed where she was at and just left her. I thought I must have heard him wrong. How could he just walk away from a lost little girl? I saw her walk over the the Jordan Walkway trail and sat down on the edge. So I went and asked her if she were lost. She was sitting there whimpering, obviously scared. She said she'd been riding her scooter with her dad and sister and had gotten way behind them. She got tired, so she had stopped at the park. I asked her if she lived nearby and she said she lived on Redwood Rd (nowhere near the park.) I asked her if there was someone she could call to tell them where she was at. She tried calling her dad's cell phone, despite her concern that he might not have it on him. I could hear through the phone how frantic he was. He'd already called the police and they were searching the walkway looking for her. I just kept thinking, what if this happens to Kyah someday. About 5 minutes later, a police man showed up and took her to the parking lot to wait for him. It was the sweetest reunion. He ran to her and scooped her up into his arms. I have to admit, it brought me to tears. I am grateful I was there to help this poor, scared, little girl.
